MANDATORY CLEARANCES & TRAINING CLASSES

SAFE ENVIRONMENT POLICY FOR VOLUNTEERS

Archdiocesan policy requires that volunteers  who may have any possible contact with children complete the following background checks and clearances:


Clearances for Volunteers Living in PA for Less than 10 years:


- Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance             
- Pennsylvania State Police Clearance

- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance

Clearances for Volunteers Living in PA Continuously for 10 Years:


- Pennsylvania State Police Clearance

- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance

- Disclosure Statement application for volunteers to be filed at the place of service


Volunteers who reside in PA do not have a provisional period and must obtain clearances prior to beginning service.


Volunteers who reside in another state or country may serve for no more than 30 days as long as they provide clearances from their state or country of residence.


Volunteers who have regular contact with chidleren (at least one time per week) are required to complete parts one and two of the Safe Environment training within 90 days of beginning their volunteer work.

PA State Child Abuse Clearance Check

Renewal is required every FIVE years.  Use the link below to submit your application, free of charge, for this clearance.  Return the results to your Sport Coordinator or to Nora McDonough at the following email address: [email protected]

Mandatory Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse

This training must be completed online.  Please register at the link below.  Return the results to your Sport Coordinator or to Nora McDonough at the following email address: [email protected]  This is a one-time requirement.

Mandatory Reporter Acknowledgment Form

This form is needed to provide proof to the state of Pennsylvania that the above Mandatory Reporter training has been completed and also to acknowledge that the volunteer is now, or may be considered in the future, to be a Mandatory Reporter.  Download the form here and return it to your Sport Coordinator or Nora McDonough at the following email address: [email protected].

Volunteer Disclosure Form

This form is needed to provide proof to the state of Pennsylvania that  the volunteer has not been named as a perpetrator of a founded report of child abuse within the past five (5) years as defined by the Child Protective Services Law.  Download the form here and return it to your Sport Coordinator or Nora McDonough at the following email address: [email protected].

Protecting God's  Children

This training is conducted in person.  Please register at the link      below under On-Site Trainings. Locations and times are provided as well as the number of slots open for each session.  Please provide a copy of the completion certificate to your Sport Coordinator or to Nora McDonough at the following email address : [email protected].  This is a one-time requirement.

Note that by completing this course, you will also have covered the previously required Information and Communication Technology Addendum.

Consent Form - Posting Pictures / Videos of Minors

In order to protect the privacy of youth, permission must be obtained, in writing, from the parent or guardian before sharing / posting pictures or videos of minors online.  Download the Consent Form and fill out / return it with your registration form any time you're registering your child for a sport.

Coaches Code of Conduct 

All coaches should review the Code of Conduct PDF prior to the start of their season. The PDF can be obtained from your sport coordinator or downloaded from HERE.

Rulebooks for all sports levels can be obtained from the sport coordinators.  Future plans will provide for the delivery of the rulebooks in PDF format in the Sports area of this website.  Check back often to see if your sport rules have been updated!
